The most well-known Frankincense is also called “True Incense” and it comes from Boswellia sacra. Boswellia sacra and Boswellia carterii refer to the same species. The word “Frankincense” designates perfume incense and comes from the Arabic word al-lubân . Ayurvedic medicine recommends it in skin diseases. It is the aromatic resin or oleoresin which, once hardened, is distilled to obtain the essential oil of incense.
