Sha Da Bao Kam Heong paste (金香 meaning “golden fragrance” in Cantonese) is blended with various aromatic tropical spices such as ginger and galangal along with herbs including lemongrass, curry leaves, dried chili and more.

Tasty and versatile, it can be consumed directly with rice and noodles or stir fried with fried tofu and tempeh.

Recipe for Kam Heong “Golden Fragrance” Tofu

Ingredients

  • Sha Da Bao Kam Heong Hot Paste – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
  • Beancurd/ tofu – 5 pieces
  • Cane sugar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Ginger – 5 slices
  • Curry leaves
  • Lemongrass – 2 stalks, crushed
  • Light toasted white sesame

Cooking method

  1. Stir fry ginger slices, crushed lemongrass, curry leaves until fragrant
  2. Add tomato paste and Sha Da Bao Kam Heong Hot Paste.
  3. Add cane sugar for seasoning
  4. Add beancurd or tofu and some soy sauce, stir fry evenly.
  5. Sprinkle with some white sesame and serve.
