Emile Noel’s story starts in 1920, when its namesake Emile Noël Senior decided to buy an old oil mill to make olive oil in Pont-Saint-Esprit, France. Later in 1972, his son Emile Noël Junior would produce the first organic oil in France. After four generations in the family and counting, Emile Noel is now a market leader in organic cold-pressed virgin oils.
Key to its success has been its patented slow screw press technique, whereby a screw is slowly turned on seeds, grinding them at temperatures below 60°C. Besides preventing heat-sensitive seeds from spoiling, this method also gives enough time to draw out the oil’s true essence.
Emile Noël® has also been certified organic fair trade since 2001, compensating small-scale farmers fairly while providing safe and dignified working conditions.
They are also dedicated to environmentally-friendly production by recycling waste, obtaining EU Ecolabel certification, as well as reducing carbon emissions and energy wastage.
